WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Four suspects in the deaths of one defendant’s adoptive parents in suburban Wichita are now charged with capital murder.
KAKE-TV reports the Sedgwick County district attorney upgraded the charges Friday from initial charges of first-degree murder.
Roger Bluml, 48, and Melissa Bluml, 53, were both shot in the head Nov. 15 at their home near Valley Center. Melissa Bluml died the next day, and her husband died Dec. 21.
Charged in the case are the couple’s 18-year-old adopted son, Anthony Bluml; his 35-year-old biological mother, Kisha Schaberg, of San Diego; and two of Anthony’s former classmates.
The suspects are also accused of stealing items including car keys and a cellphone. Their bonds have been raised to $2 million. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 16.
