Thanks to 34 points on 13 of 16 shooting from the field in Saturday’s win over Texas, K-State freshman guard Marcus Foster was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week. Foster hit five three-pointers, and did not miss any of his eight attempts inside the arc. He added three rebounds and three assists in the Cats’ only game of the week.
Only six freshmen in Big 12 history have scored more points than Foster in a single game. K-State All-American Michael Beasley had 39 against Kansas on March 1st, 2008. Foster’s previous high was 25 points against Oral Roberts on November 13th.
Foster earns his second nod this season from the Big 12, and is averaging 14.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He’s shooting 42.4 percent from the field, and has made 50 three point field goals.
The Sunflower Showdown is Monday night at Bramlage Coliseum with ESPN in town for Big Monday. Tipoff for K-State and KU will be at 8:00pm, and Powercat Gameday starts at 6:00 on NewsRadio 1350 KMAN and 101.5 K-Rock.
