The Topeka Capital-Journal is reporting that Highland Park head boys basketball coach Ken Darting will end his storied career at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season. Darting has won four 5A state titles in 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009 with the Scots to go with three state runner up finishes. He also claimed a 3A state title at Silver Lake in 1981. Darting has posted a record of 236-51 at Highland Park, and won another 119 games as the Eagles’ head man.
He had a stint as head coach of both the men’s and women’s teams at Allen County Community College, and was on Jack Hartman’s staff at K-State. Darting will turn 65 in March.
