Fire caused an estimated $7,000 in damage to a building in the 2200 block of College Avenue. The Manhattan Fire Department responded to the reported past structure fire shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, crews found a three story apartment with a sprinkler activated in the kitchen of an apartment. Crews were able to quickly determine the fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system.
At the time of the fire, one occupant was home in the apartment and was able to leave the residence without injury. Loss is estimated at $2000 to contents and $5000 to the structure. The owner is listed as CCAL LLC of Austin, Texas. The fire cause was determined to be accidental due to unattended cooking.
