According to a K-State Today article, two K-State researchers in the College of Veterinary Medicine and a K-State Research and Extension horticulture agent have received recognition for their roles in helping to save the lives of three people in Wichita. A teenager and Wichita police officers Terry Nelson and Drew Rhoades became ill after all three were exposed pond water in Wichita The two officers swam into a pond to and performed CPR after the teenager swam into the pond to escape police pursuit and began to drown. Completion of road work meant to repair a sinkhole near the intersection of Hayes Dr. and Bluemont Ave. has been pushed back to mid-January. City officials originally hoped for work to be completed by the end of the year, but high water levels in the ground have continued to cause delays. Ron Fehr, the Manhattan city manager, says decreasing water levels at Tuttle Creek Reservoir will hopefully help with this issue. Governor Laura Kelly on Monday appointed Judge Evelyn Z. Wilson to the Kansas Supreme Court. Wilson will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Lee Johnson.  “Judge Wilson stood out from the field of candidates for her experience, her character and her commitment to Kansas,” Governor Kelly said.   Wilson is currently Chief Judge for the 3rd Judicial District, Shawnee County, where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the court in addition to carrying a full caseload. Proposed changes to development regulations A proposed repeal of an exception to a policy requiring all entrances to Pottawatomie County subdivisions to be connected to paved roads has been put on hold. The exception currently allows entrances to secondary roads in these subdivisions to enter onto paved roads as long as they meet certain conditions. This proposal, which was brought up at the Pottawatomie County Commission meeting this morning, has been postponed due to concerns over how future work on paved roads would be shared between developers and the county. “The reason it got brought up is that staff had…
