A Belvue man has been bound over in a first degree murder case following a preliminary hearing Friday morning in Pottawatomie County Court.
Christopher Arand, 36, faces charges of first degree murder in connection with the November 2014 death of his uncle, Larry Arand of Belvue, and felony cruelty to animals. As KMAN earlier reported, an affidavit indicates the younger Arand hit his uncle in the back of the head with brass knuckles five times, then put a plastic bag over his head to suffocate him. He also talked about killing Larry Arand’s cat by putting it into a bag and slamming it on the concrete floor of the home.
Pottawatomie County Attorney Sherri Schuck called three witnesses to the stand during the preliminary hearing, but the defense called no one. Arand’s arraignment is set for March 19th.
