Broncos WR Wes Welker suspended

Sources have told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has been suspended four games for use of Amphetamines.

According to sources, Welker tested positive after a sample was shortly taken after he attended the Kentucky Derby. Welker argued that the sample was tainted and he was able to attend his appeal hearing in mid August.

The Broncos first four games of the season are against the Colts, Chiefs, Seahawks and Cardinals. The game against the Seahawks is the only game of the four that is on the road.

Welker suffered his third concussion in the last year during the preseason against the Texans and was continuing to work through the NFL’s concussion protocol.
