Soup Supper @ VFW Post 1786

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be having an All-You-Eat Soup Supper on Monday, October 20th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  Join them at their new location behind Ray’s Apple Market at 3003 Anderson Avenue.

Book Group @ Riley County Senior Center
Oct 21 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The Manhattan Book Group and VIP (Visually Impaired Persons) Support Group will meet on Tuesday, October 21st, at the Riley County Senior Center.  The Book Group will meet at 1:00.  They will discuss ‘The Ghost Map” by Steven Johnson.  The VIP Group will meet following the Book Group from 2:00 – 3:00.  This will be a “Share” meeting.  They will cover a variety of topics including recent travels and attendance at meetings of interest to our members. K-State Orchestra @ McCain Auditorium

The K-State Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Littrell, will present music by composers from the Czech Republic (formerly Bohemia and Czechoslovakia).  Composers represented are Dvorak, Martinu, and Smetana.  The Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale, conducted by Dr. Julie Yu, will join the Orchestra for Dvorak’s Te Deum.  The October 21st concert is at 7:30 pm in the McCain Auditorium.  Admission is free.

Church Fall Supper @ Randolph United Methodist Church

Randolph United Methodist Church will hold their Fall Supper on Wednesday, October 22nd from 5 to 7:30 pm.  They will be serving Swedish Meatballs;  Creamed Chicken;  Mashed Potatoes; Vegetables;  Salads & Relishes;  Homemade Bread;  Homemade Pie;  Coffee, Tea or Water.  Cost: Pre-School Free;  K-6th $2.50 and Adults $8.00.

Bewitching in Westloop @ Westloop Shopping Center

The Westloop Shopping Center will present the annual “Bewitching in Westloop” treat trail. This year’s event will be held from 4:00 – 6:30 pm on October 31st.  All young people are invited to attend.

Big Blue River Flood Mitigation Open House @ Manhattan Fire Station

Manhattan, Riley County, and Pottawatomie County officials and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will host the Big Blue River Flood Mitigation Open House from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Wednesday, November 5th , at the Manhattan Fire Station Headquarters.  The open house is part of the Big Blue River Silver Jacket Project to research and develop a management plan to lessen the flood risks for property owners, residents and business owners along the Big Blue River.  For more information please visit www.knowyourfloodriskMHK.com, or follow Know Your Flood Risk MHK on Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date on the Big Blue River Project.
