Book Group Meeting @ Riley County Senior Center
Sep 16 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The Manhattan Book Group and VIP (Visually Impaired Persons) Support Group will meet on Tuesday, September 16th, at the Riley County Senior Center.  The Book Group will meet at 1:00.  They will discuss “And Hell followed With It – Life and Death in a Kansas Tornado. ”  The VIP Group will meet following the Book Group from 2:00 – 3:00 pm.  They will he having a Low Vision Technology Demonstration.  Susan Brand from NanoPac will be the guest speaker.  She will have hands on demonstrations of the latest in low vision technology.  This event is free and open to the public.

Open House @ Riley County Senior Center

The Seniors’ Center, 301 N 4th Street is hosting an open house Wednesday, September 17th from 9:00 am to Noon, to celebrate their recent renovations.  Remarks by dignitaries will be at 10:00 am.  Everyone is welcomed and refreshments will be provided.

Planning Smart Transitions @ Riley County Senior Center

The Seniors’ Center, 301 N 4th Street, is hosting a fall seminar series entitled, “Planning Smart Transitions” on Wednesday afternoons.  The series is bringing together 29 local and regional speakers to discuss topics including Sorting, Appraising & Donating Your Stuff; Selling Personal Property; Home Care Options, and Paying for Long Term Care.  The series will also preview a Retirement Living Fair and Tours in October.  The series keynote speaker will be Connie Michaelis, newspaper columnist and marketing director from McCrite Plaza, Topeka on Wednesday, September at 1:oo pm.  Please call the Center for the series schedule and to register, 537-4040.

CASA Comedy Club @ Wareham Opera House

The dinner show will begin at 5:30pm and will be catered by Cox Brothers. Tickets for the dinner show are $65. Tickets for just the early show and no dinner are $30 and doors open at 6:30pm. Late show tickets are $30 and doors open at 9:30pm with the show starting at 10pm.

MHS Football Fundraiser @ Bishop Stadium

The Annual MHS Football BBQ Fundraiser will be held Friday,  September 19th starting at 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at Bishop Stadium.  A Complete Meal includes a BBQ Pork Sandwich, Chips, Pickle, Cooke & Drink for $5.00.  Each item can be purchased separately as well.  Support MHS Football!

Aggieville’s 125th Birthday Street Fair and Dance @ Aggieville
Sep 20 all-day

Aggieville is celebrating it’s 125th anniversary. There will be a Mini Maker Faire (see for more info), a kid’s carnival, an antique car show, a State Fair Food Cook-Off, an ice cream social, a giant donut birthday cake, bands and local performance groups, and historical events dedicated to Kansas’ oldest business business district. This will all lead up to the street dance.

The KSU marching band will perform at 5:00pm, and Willie will also be making an appearance.

Touch-A-Truck @ Goody's Plaza

The seventh annual Touch-A-Truck program sponsored by the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library will be held on Saturday,  September 20th, from 10 am to noon at Goody’s Plaza on East Chestnut Street.  Here families can get an up-close look at a host of working and recreational vehicles and indulge their fascination with “things that go.”  For more information please contact Susan Moyer at 238-4311.

National Back To Church Sunday 2014 @ Manhattan Christian Fellowship Church

You are invited to attend the Sunday Worship Service at the Manhattan Christian Fellowship Church, 2740 Pillsbury Drive on September 21st at 10:00 am for National Back to Church Sunday 2014.  After the service there will be a fellowship together at the Sirloin Stockade from 1:00 to 4:00.  Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Proceeds will go to the building fund.  Ticket prices are $14.00 for 15 years and older; $7.00 for 11  – 12 years;  $5.00 for 4 – 10 years and free for 3 years and younger.  For more information call the church at 785-587-0969 or Tamie and 785-370-5354.
