Public Input Meeting @ Riley Centre

The second meeting to allow the public to review and comment on two draft public building commission documents will be held on Monday, November 14th at 7:00 pm at the Riley Centre in Riley.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

VA Assistance @ American Legion Post #17

The American Legion is bringing in a support team to assist our local veterans and their families.  The American Legion is holding events to inform veterans about their military and VA benefits and show you how you can serve other veterans in the Manhattan area.  Join them at the American Legion Post #17 in Manhattan, December 4th through the 6th.  Call 913-416-9073 for more information.

10th Annual Country Christmas @ Deep Creek Community Center

Deep Creek Needlecraft Club will have their 10th Annual Country Christmas at the Deep Creek Community Center located southeast of Manhattan on Hwy 177 then 3 1/2 miles on Deep Creek Road,  on Friday December 5th from 2:00 – 6:00 pm and on Saturday,  December 6th from 9:00 am to 12 Noon.  There will be handmade wearable and decorating items as well as homemade cookies, breads, pies, jellies and candies.  One of the members has donated a quilt to be given away during the festivities.  Samples of baked goods along with hot drinks will be available both days.

Cookie Carousel @ St Thomas More Church

The St Thomas More Church, 2900 Kimball Avenue in Manhattan is sponsoring its 24th Annual Cookie Carousel, Saturday, December 6th from 9:00 – 11:30 am.  Stock up on your favorite holiday cookies and candies.  The parishioners prepare more than 1000 pounds of cookies which sell for $6.50 per pound.  Cash, check, or credit card are accepted.  They even have treats for your four legged friends.  A portion of the proceeds benefit Fairy Godmothers, Emergency Shelter, Catholic Charities, and Shepherd’s Crossing.  Join them in celebrating their 24th year of giving back to the community.
