Children’s Halloween Carnival @ Wonder Workshop
Oct 24 @ 6:00 pm – Oct 25 @ 8:00 pm

The Wonder Workshop is hosting a Children’s Halloween Carnival on October 24th & 25th at 507  S 4th.  There will be trick or treating, games, crafts and treats.  Join them for a safe Halloween  event.   Admission if $3 in advance or $4 at the door.  Members get in free.  Each ticket is good for an additional visit to the Wonder Workshop until December 21st.

Free, with donations appreciated for the future restoration of Peace Memorial Auditorium.

Dress for the period (optional)- poodle skirt, zoot suit, tie dye, etc.

The History of Voting Rights In Kansas @ Manhattan Public Library
Oct 30 @ 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Author and independent historian Diane Eickhoff will lead a discussion entitled “Women Rising: How Kansas Women Gained The Vote, 1859-1912.” The discussion is based on research Eickhoff did when writing her book Revolutionary Heart: The Life Of Clarina Nichols and the Pioneering Crusade for Women’s Rights.

The Good Books Club is organized and facilitated by staff at the Manhattan Public Library. The club is free and open to the public.

Bewitching in Westloop @ Westloop Shopping Center

The Westloop Shopping Center will present the annual “Bewitching in Westloop” treat trail. This year’s event will be held from 4:00 – 6:30 pm on October 31st.  All young people are invited to attend.

Boo Party @ Manhattan Town Center
Oct 31 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Manhattan Town Center’s annual Boo Party invites kids twelve and under to trick-or-treat at participating stores from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Friday, October 31st.  Don’t forget to take a can of food for the Flint Hills Breadbasket and receive a FREE trick or treat bag.  Limit one bag per child while supplies last at the Customer Service Center.

USD 384 Board Meetings @ McCormick Elementary School

USD 384 will be holding two meetings with patrons for the purpose of information sharing on the proposed board resolution to increase the current LOB from 30 to 33% starting with the 2015-2016 school year. The first meeting will be Monday, November 3rd at McCormick Elementary School at 7:00 pm and the second on Thursday, November 6th at 7:00 pm in the BVHS Cafeteria.

Big Blue River Flood Mitigation Open House @ Manhattan Fire Station

Manhattan, Riley County, and Pottawatomie County officials and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will host the Big Blue River Flood Mitigation Open House from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Wednesday, November 5th , at the Manhattan Fire Station Headquarters.  The open house is part of the Big Blue River Silver Jacket Project to research and develop a management plan to lessen the flood risks for property owners, residents and business owners along the Big Blue River.  For more information please visit www.knowyourfloodriskMHK.com, or follow Know Your Flood Risk MHK on Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date on the Big Blue River Project.
