Tech Tuesday @ Manhattan Public Library

Tech Tuesday workshop “How to Download eBooks” will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd at 2:00 pm.  This class will walk you through the steps of downloading eBooks from the Sunflower eLibrary onto your mobile devices and computers.  Bring your device or computer with you and leave with great new eBooks and audiobooks.

Transportation Open House @ C.L. Hoover Opera House

The Flint Hills Metropolitan Planning Organization (FHMPO) and its consultant team will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, September 24th from 4:30 – 7:00 pm at the C.L. Hoover Opera House.  As part of the development of the region’s first long-range transportation plan, the Flint Hills Transportation Plan, the FHMPO is seeking public feedback regarding roadway conditions, bicycle and pedestrians facilities, transit service and more.  The open house allows citizens to come and go as they please and have informal conversations with FHMPO staff or the consultant team members.  There will be a formal presentation at 5:30 pm.

Saving the Ogallala Aquifer @ Hale Library

Julene Bair will be presenting a talk, “Saving the Ogallala Aquifer” at 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 25th in the Hemisphere Room of Hale Library.  It’s sponsored by K-State Libraries, K-State English and Chemical Engineering Departments, the Consortium for Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability, Kansas Natural Resource Council and Claflin Books.  Books will be provided.

Sleepout for the Homeless @ Bosco Plaza

K-state’s Silver Key Sophomore Honorary is hosting its annual Sleepout for the Homeless on Thursday, September 25th.  The event will begin at 7:00 pm at the Bosco Plaza.  Silver Key members will be there until 7:00 am to raise awareness about homelessness in the Manhattan community.  Special thanks to Burnett Automotive and Mike’s Wrecker Service for their support and donation during the car bash event to raise money for the Manhattan Emergency Shelter.  Silver Key will be collecting toiletries, personal hygiene products, food as well as monetary donations at the event.  All donations will go to the Manhattan Emergency Shelter.

Night at the Musuem @ Oz Museum

The OZ Museum is hosting Night at the Museum on Friday, September 26th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.  This event is going to be an evening where our favorite Oz characters come to life with the help of Oz historian John Fricke.  This evening is also going to help bring awareness to the fundraising of the OZ Museum facade. University Band Day @ Downtown Manhattan

Twenty-six schools are participating in this year’s Band Day, which includes the annual parade that will begin at 1 p.m. in the McCain Auditorium parking lot then proceed east down Poyntz Avenue, ending at the Manhattan Town Center.

Community Meeting @ Manhattan Fire Station
