Sons of American Legion Fundraiser @ American Legion Post #17

The local chapter of Sons of American Legion (S.A.L.) is having a fundraiser on July 20th. Proceeds will benefit Fort Riley’s Soldier and Family Assistance Center in support of the Fort Riley Warrior Transition Battalion quality of life initiative. The fundraiser will include a dance, silent auction, and raffle items. There is no admission charge but donations are appreciated. The event will take place from 7:00 – 10:00 pm, at American Legion Post 17, 114 McCall Road, Manhattan. The Fort Riley Soldier and Assistance Center (SFAC) supports ill, injured and wounded soldiers and their families. SFAC is dedicated to providing assistance to the Warriors assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion. The goal is to establish transition plans that build a pathway for soldiers separating from military. This transition guides the Soldier to ensuring a successful transition and to provide the tools to sustain yourself and your family to civilian life.

The Durochers Live @ Ashland Community Church

The Durochers (Duh roh’ sure) Live greater Than Ever Tour will be at the Ashland Community Church on Friday, June 21st at 7:00 pm. Join the Durocher family for a time of musical entertainment where one mom, one dad, and 9 of their 12 children (ages 8-23) will be performing creative originals and traditional favorites featuring amazing instrumentation and intricate harmonies. The Durochers have been entertaining audiences from Maine to Mexico at over 200 shows per year and they will be here for one show only on their Greater Than Ever Tour. Family Movie Night @ Manhattan First Assemby

There will be a free showing of Toy Story 3 at Manhattan First Assembly, 2310 Candlewood Drive, this Friday, June 21st.  Fun starts at 7:30 pm (Gift for best “Toy Story 3″ children costume).  Movie starts at 8:00 pm.  Free snowcones, popcorn and drinks.  Take your lawn chairs, blankets….and join them under the evening sky.

Manhattan Municipal Band Concert @ Manhattan City Park

The Manhattan Municipal Band directed by Frank Tracz will present it’s weekly concert Friday, June 21st at City Park’s Larry Norvell Band Shell at 7:30 PM as part of the “Arts in the Park” concert series.  The program will include traditional marches and fanfares and a medley of “American River Songs”.  The featured vocalist will be Kelley Tracz singing “As Time Goes By”, “I Got Plenty O’ Nothin’”, and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”. The instrumental feature will be “Centerpiece No. 2″ performed by clarinetists Tod Kerstetter and Heather Gering.  The percussion section will also be featured on “Sabre Dance”. The performance is free and open to the public.

2nd Annual Darren Sproles 5k @ Southcreek Office Park

Set to take place on July 6, 2013 at Southcreek Office Park (7200 West 132nd Street) in Overland Park, Kansas; the 2nd annual Darren Sproles 5k will bring together celebrities and the Kansas City community to walk/run through the park to raise money for the Sproles Empowered Youth organization. After the 5K Walk & Fun Run we have lots of activities FOR ALL AGES including:
