KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Chiefs added some extra bulk to their offensive line with their selections in the second and third rounds of the NFL draft on Friday.
With the 44th overall pick Kansas City picked up Illinois offensive tackle Jeff Allen, an All-Big 10 honorable mention pick last season by the league coaches. The Chiefs went offensive line again in the third round selecting Oklahoma offensive tackle Donald Stephenson, an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection by the conference coaches last season.
The 6-foot-6, 312-pound Stephenson was lightly recruited out of high school, but emerged as a solid lineman with the Sooners. He started 10 games at left tackle as a junior and every game his senior season, when he was among the best tackles in the Big 12.
Kansas City was fairly solid along the offensive line even before spending two of its first three picks on additional depth. The Chiefs picked Memphis defensive tackle Dontari Poe with their first-round pick Thursday night.
