Pressured the entire first half by the San Francisco defense, the Chiefs were unable to get much going without injured Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles. The only touchdown they scored was on a kickoff return, and that wasn’t enough in a 15-13 preseason loss Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium.
Alex Smith was just 7 of 16 passing for 62 yards against his former team, very little resemblance to the calm, efficient quarterback who led the Chiefs on a touchdown drive last week at New Orleans. The team as a whole couldn’t get anything going on offense with a combined 170 yards of total offense. Former Kansas State Wildcats Tyson Hartman and Zac Diles combined for 7 tackles on the defensive side of the ball.
Preseason game #3 for Kansas City will be next Saturday, August 24th against the Steelers in Pittsburgh, kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
