CiCo Park Pool goes to the dogs

It’s the dog days of summer, and you could really tell on Sunday afternoon at CiCo Park.  Hundreds of dogs and their owners jumped into the pool to enjoy a little relief from the heat at the annual Pet Poolooza.

Event organizer Angela Smith says it’s the 10th annual anniversary for the event, and donations taken at the entrance would go to the T. Russel Reitz Animal Shelter.  Several events and booths were available pool side.  A costume event, biggest and smallest dog, and even a dog and owner look-alike contest were in full swing.

K-State Veterinarian student Bailey Davis was enjoying the day with her dog Yadi.  Yadi was plunging into the water after a ball, and paddling back to Davis.  Davis says the event is great for socialization of the animals, and she personally enjoyed seeing all the animals having fun playing at the pool.

Here’s Yadi taking the plunge at the pool.
