The Manhattan City Commission revisited its list of 2015 goals and projects Tuesday, which essentially served as a budget primer for new Commissioners like Linda Morse.
“It’s perfect to have this kind of background information on the projects that are coming and the estimate of what the cost will be,” said Morse.
Several departments including Parks and Rec, Public Works and the Airport also presented their 2015 reports during Tuesday’s work session.
The Commission also briefly discussed a proposal to amend its internal HR policy to include sexual orientation as a protected class.
“The School District has a similar policy and they just added LGBT I believe last year and Kansas State University has it, as does RCPD,” said Commissioner, Usha Reddi. “I think we need to be on board.”
Race, marital status and disability are currently listed as protected classes in the City’s internal HR Policy.
