As body-worn cameras continue to be implemented by Riley County Police, more cameras are necessary for officers who are on duty. A public hearing was held during Thursday’s county commission meeting to discuss the Edward Bryne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant, which would provide funding for additional cameras.
According to RCPD Director, Brad Schoen, the amount of funding would be around $17,000.
After closing the public hearing, the commission unanimously chose to approve to move forward with the grant.
Following their regularly scheduled meeting, the commission also attended a joint city/county meeting with Pottawatomie County Commissioners and Manhattan City Commissioners. Later that evening, they put on their other hats as the Riley County Board of Health for the board of health meeting, where the budget was discussed.
