Two people died in a two vehicle accident on highway 24, a mile east of Seth Child Road in Manhattan, which closed Tuttle Creek Boulevard down for about two hours Tuesday afternoon.
The fatalities have been identified as 90 year old Frederick Danenberg and 85 year old Michael Myers, both of Manhattan.
According to the Kansas Highway patrol, Danenberg was driving a 2001 Toyota passenger car and had been stopped at a stop sign facing south onto highway 24. Danenberg reportedly pulled out in front of a 1999 Freightliner semi-truck driven by 23 year old Christian Rodriguez of Wichita, with Danenberg’s vehicle then struck by the semi. Myers was a passenger in Danenberg’s vehicle.
Rodriguez was not injured.
The accident was reported shortly before four Tuesday afternoon. Neither Danenberg nor Myers had seatbelts on.
