Kansas First Lady Mary Brownback will visit Manhattan Public Library on November 19 at 11:00 a.m. to lead a special storytime in celebration of Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week.
Each year, Kansas libraries promote early literacy during Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week by giving away free books, hosting special storytimes, and planning fun activities to get kids excited about learning to read. The 2013 Kansas Reads to Preschoolers week will take place from November 17-23.
At Manhattan Public Library’s November 19 storytime, to kickoff the statewide celebration, Mary Brownback will read this year’s book choice “Dog’s Colorful Day” by Emma Dodd. After the storytime, kids will get a chance to play and participate in fun activities like puzzles, mazes, and games, and make a colorful dog craft. Every child who attends will receive a free book to take home!
The event is free and open to the public. To make sure we have enough supplies for everyone, please contact the Children’s Department if you plan to bring six children or more. Call us at (785) 776-4741 ext. 125 or send an email to kidstaff@mhklibrary.org
