Wide receiver-tight end Chris Harper, a fourth-round draft choice coming off failed stints in Seattle and San Francisco, was claimed on waivers Friday by the Green Bay Packers.
Running back Michael Hill was released to make room for Harper, who becomes either the Packers’ fifth wide receiver or their sixth tight end.
Seattle cut Harper, the 123rd overall draft selection, on Aug. 31.
Seattle signed Harper to its practice squad but San Francisco, its NFC West rival, almost immediately signed him to a three-year contract for a berth on the 53-man roster.
