The match up was set up for a Royals victory. James Shields pitching for Kansas City and Minnesota sending out a 27 year old Canadian left hander making his major league debut. It was not the case last night as Shields struggled early on and Andrew Albers sat down the Royals in a 7-0 Twins victory.
Shields pitched six innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits. Albers pitched 8 1/3 innings for the Twins giving up just four hits.
The Royals will go for the series win tonight at Kauffman Stadium. Danny Duffy coming off the DL is scheduled to make his first start of the season for Kansas City. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 7:10 pm and the game can be heard on Newsradio 1350 KMAN.
