A Junction City man apparently is in trouble with law enforcement authorities in two different counties, with records of arrests in both Geary and Riley counties the past few days. Devoris Newson, 27, was taken into custody  by Riley County Police shortly before 1:30 Wednesday afternoon on a failure to appear warrant, reportedly originating from Geary county. His bond was set at $10,000.

A few hours later Newson apparently was transferred to the Geary County Detention Center, with their records indicating he was arrested there on warrants for failure to appear, attempting to flee and elude, obstruction of the legal process, and driving while suspended.

Newson was involved in a fleeing and eluding case occurring in the two counties last November. Riley County Police at the time used the IRIS alert system and social media to warn the public they were looking for him. Newson was later located in Geary County, but crashed his vehicle during a law enforcement pursuit and fled on foot.

Riley County court documents indicate five of the six counts Newson faces in Riley County have been dismissed, as of this past Tuesday.
