While the Kicker Country Stampede brings top flight country music entertainment to the area, it also provides fans with a chance to hear some up-and-coming talent. One such performer is Manhattan area native Lara Wisdom.
Wisdom, a 2002 graduate of Kansas State University, moved to Nashville immediately after earning her degree in Sociology. Having been raised in a music-loving household, she began to follow her own love of performing, dreams that she can trace back to her early childhood.
Wisdom fell in love with music at a very early age. “My parents were both music fans”, she said. She names The Carpenters and John Denver as some of her earliest influences. After honing her talents locally, she moved to Music City to continue to continue her career. But after a particularly rough time in her life, Wisdom began writing songs, and found that to be “the best therapy ever”.
Wisdom will be performing songs she has written at the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) tent this weekend. Being from this area, she looks forward to singing in front of her hometown crowd. “My whole family is K-State. We are generations of Wildcat purple”.
