With the season set to start this weekend, the Big 12 baseball coaches released their annual preseason poll. Brad Hill’s K-State Wildcats are picked 7th out of nine teams, just behind Texas Tech, but ahead of rival KU, and West Virginia. The Cats are coming off a 27-31 season, which included their sixth straight Big 12 tournament berth, but they missed the NCAA regionals for the first time since 2008. K-State has plenty of pop in the lineup this spring, and an athletic defense will back up a young pitching staff. The Cats will make their 2013 debut on Friday at 11:00am against High Point in Charleston, South Carolina, a game that can be heard starting at 10:30 on 1350kman.com.
Oklahoma tops the Big 12 preseason poll, followed by Big 12 newcomer TCU. Texas is #3, while Baylor and Oklahoma State round out the top five.
