Thanks to a 55-24 victory over then #15 Texas Tech and then #2 Florida’s 17-9 loss to Georgia, K-State has moved up to #3 in both the Associated Press & USA Today coaches’ polls. Alabama is the unanimous #1 in both polls, Oregon is #2, but the Cats are nipping at the Ducks’ heels, just 25 points behind in the coaches’ poll and 30 short in the AP poll. Notre Dame and LSU round out the top five.
The coaches’ poll and Harris polls make up the BCS standings, along with the average of six computer polls. With the help of the computers, K-State is projected to be #2 in the BCS behind Alabama when those rankings are announced on Sunday night on ESPN.
8-0 K-State will host Oklahoma State this Saturday night at 7:00pm in a nationally televised game on ABC. The Cowboys are ranked #24 in the coaches’ poll. Powercat Gameday will begin at 3:00pm from the west of Bill Snyder Family Stadium on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN and 101.5 K-Rock.
