Kindred Wesemann scored 19 points and Kansas State held a lead at halftime but West Virginia used a strong second half to power past the Wildcats 63-51 Wednesday night in Big 12 Women’s Basketball action at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown
Wednesday’s game also marked the first action for Haley Texada since suffering a scary injury in a win over Kansas on January 11 at Bramlage Coliseum. Texada responded by contributing 11 points off the bench for the Wildcats.
The Mountaineers outscored K-State 41-26 in the second half and were led by Jessica Morton’s 22 points. Also in double figures for West Virginia were Averee Fiels with 12 points, Breana McDonald with 11 and Bria Holmes added 10.
Kansas State (11-6, 1-5) will continue its road trip with a game Saturday at third-ranked Baylor. Tipoff in Waco is set for 11 a.m.
