K-State coach Deb Patterson announced the signings of three players to the 2014 recruiting class on Thursday, forward McKenna Treece, and guards Shaelyn Martin and Lauren Mertz. The trio all stands six feet or taller.
Treece is a 6 foot 3 inch post from St. Peter’s, Missouri, who’s helped lead Incarnate Word Academy to two state titles, who is ranked #5 nationally as a team this season.
Martin is a 6 foot guard from Salina Central, who committed to the Wildcats during her sophomore year. She’s a three-time all-state pick that nearly averaged a double-double last season at 11.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
Mertz is also a 6 foot guard who pledged to K-State two years ago, hailing from Blue Valley Northwest. She led the Huskies to the state tournament during her sophomore campaign, and missed last season due to a knee injury.
