KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to life for selling heroin linked to deaths in three Kansas counties and many non-fatal overdoses.
Prosecutors said Verdale Handy and his drug trafficking crews in Kansas City, Kan., sold in suburban Johnson County and owned houses that they charged other dealers to sell from.
The Kansas City Star reported Handy was sentenced Tuesday in federal court for drug charges and trying to kill a witness.
Prosecutors said deaths linked to the drug scheme occurred in Wyandotte, Johnson and Leavenworth counties.
