LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) Lawrence police have recently increased their presence on a street where there had been several alcohol-related problems.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports that from Dec. 5 through Dec. 8 police arrested five men along a particular block of Oread Avenue where there are bars and nightclubs. The spate of offenses included unlawful use of a driver’s license, public alcohol consumption, consumption by a minor and criminal trespassing.
That activity drew complaints of neighbors. But Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman, says when police see an increase in activity they put resources in that area.
The recent boost in police presence there also appears to have helped quell the alcohol-related problems.
