After four years of service, Riley County Commissioner, Dave Lewis served his final day on the board on Thursday. Incoming commissioner, Ben Wilson will officially be sworn into office on the following Monday morning.
Lewis shared words of gratitude for all of the county department heads, and some of the county staff members. He acknowledged each person individually and presented them with a medal.
Several department heads teared up, and Lewis shed tears during a couple of the recognitions.
Besides the personalized thank you’s, Lewis also shared a few words about the county as a whole.
“The last four years of my life here as a county commissioner is something I will always treasure and always be proud of. Riley County has the best staff and the best leadership of any county in the state of Kansas”, commented Lewis.
Lewis’s presentation concluded with a round of applause and a standing ovation from the audience.
A reception was also held for Lewis later that afternoon, in the county commission room.
