Typhoon Haiyan wreaked havoc on the Phillipines, and the tragedy has touched many victims worldwide. One restaurant owner in Manhattan has decided to do his part to help.
Chinese Chef owner Don Collado will donate all of his profits on Tuesday November 19th to the victims of Haiyan. Collado was born in the Phillipines, and decided to hold the fund raiser with the support of his wife and family.
Collado says his grandfather was born in the portion of the Phillipines which was struck the hardest by the Typhoon, and has many friends in the region.
Collado says his wife and children helped him reach the decision as he searched for a way to help. “I realized I had a restaurant and the community that could help.”
Those who wish to donate can order in store, delivery, drive through, or deposit within drop boxes available at the store. Collado says his staff has also been very supportive and will donate their services on Tuesday for the event.
Chinese Chef is located on 2704 Anderson Avenue, and will be open from 11am to 9pm on Tuesday for the event.
