KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) A northeastern Kansas man will be sentenced in August after admitting he possessed more than 12,000 images of child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says James Christmas, 45, of Olathe, pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to one count of possessing child porn.
Prosecutors said the investigation began when Christmas’s estranged wife alerted Olathe police in September 2010 that she found child porn on his computer. Besides the 12,000 images, investigators also reported finding 26 videos of child porn.
Christmas faces maximum penalties of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine at his sentencing Aug. 12.
