A Manhattan man is facing embezzlement charges.
63 year old Larry D. Lord has been charged with ten counts of mail fraud that totals up to $536,179, according to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom.
The indictment alleges that from 2005 to 2012, Lord used his access to the bank accounts of Cheney Construction Inc. in Manhattan to steal the amount by writing the checks on the company’s accounts and mailed them to pay personal credit card debts belonging to him and his wife.
Lord worked for the company and was responsible for paying the company’s bills and issuing payroll checks to company employees.
If convicted, Lord faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on each count.
The FBI, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Internal Revenue Service were involved in the investigation.
