Manhattan High Basketball teams sweep Great Bend

Less than 24 hours after sweeping both games from Dodge City, the Manhattan High School Basketball teams took the floor once again on Saturday afternoon and when the day was done each team had another victory in hand.

The MHS Girls downed Great Bend at the newly-refurbished MHS gym in a 59-50 decision. After leading 35-18 at halftime, the Tribe held a steady lead through the second half as Darby Price and Caroline Ballard each poured in 19 points. MHS is now 4-0 on the season and in the last two years has won 28 of its last 32 games.

In the Boys contest, Manhattan High ran its winning streak to three games with a 49-32 thumping of Great Bend. After leading only 18-16 midway through the second period, the Tribe closed the first half with a 13-3 run to lead 31-19 at intermission. Jacob Holloway led all scorers with 16 points including two huge three pointers late in the first half. Chris Hudgins scored seven of his nine total points in the second half and Winston Dimel added seven more.

Manhattan High will play their final games before the Christmas break next Friday, December 14 in Emporia.
