The 2012 season for the Manhattan High School Football team came to an end with a 38-6 loss to Dodge City Friday night at Bishop Stadium in the first round of the Class 6A State Playoffs.
After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie through the first quarter, Dodge City scored 21 points in a seven minute span during the second quarter thanks largely in part to three Manhattan turnovers. Running Back Park Davis led the Red Demons with two touchdowns on his way to 201 yards rushing on the night. The Tribe avoided the shutout when Quarterback Jacob Holloway threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Devin Cossman late in the fourth quarter.
MHS, which won its District Championship despite a one-point loss last week to arch-rival Junction City finishes with a 6-4 record. Dodge City (5-5) returns home next week to host Derby in the Class 6A State Quarterfinals.
