“Nothing but good news” is the way Manhattan Finance Director Bernie Hayen describes the latest sales tax receipt numbers for the city. The amount collected in February was $1,028,934, compared to $953-thousand dollars last year at this same time. In fact that’s the most collected in February in a four year time period.
The year to date numbers are $1,957,069.
February numbers actually reflect about six weeks prior, which would have been mid-December through January.
