MHS Girls Roll Highland Park; Boys Fall

The Manhattan High girls made quick work of Highland Park in a 65-33 win at the MHS gym Friday night. 13 Indians scored in the game and all 16 players who suited up saw the floor. Manhattan had an 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Scots 30-5 in the second and third quarters to put it away. Darby Price and Savannah Thaemert each had eight points to lead the Tribe in scoring.

The MHS boys welcomed in one of the top teams in the state in undefeated Highland Park and could only hang with the Scots for a half in a 56-29 loss. Manhattan got within two late in the first quarter at 8-6, but Highland Park built a 24-14 lead by halftime. Then the Scots pushed their lead to 18 in the third quarter and cruised in the second half for the win. Manhattan was led in scoring by Chris Hudgins who had seven points and Winston Dimel chipped in six points as well. The Indians couldn’t contain Highland Park leading scorer Jamaal McMurray who led all scorers with 18 points.

Next up both teams head to Hayden on Tuesday. Pregame coverage starts at 5:45 on KMAN.
