New Fire Station #3 to open very soon

The culmination of a project that’s been ongoing since 1998, Fire Station #3, will be holding a grand opening ceremony on July 28th beginning at 10:30 am. Station and apparatus tours are available after the completion of the opening ceremony.

Manhattan Fire Chief Jerry Snyder says that the station will hold rescue equipment, including the jaws of life and other tools. Also constructed on the premises will be a salt storage building to be used by the Public works department to service western Manhattan during and after winter storms.

“It’s everything we expected,” Chief Snyder says of the new station. “The contractor’s done a great job of constructing the station. We’re very pleased with how it turned out.”
