The Paws on Poyntz Committee has had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the 13th Annual Weenie Dog Races and Paws on Poyntz due to expected bad weather in the morning hours of Saturday, June 7th.
Part of the organizers decision is due to the fact that chalk paint is used to mark out the race track and that cannot be done in either the rain or on wet pavement. There are also concerns about the forecast calling for a 70% chance of thunderstorms throughout Saturday morning and must take into consideration the number of children at the event.
Organizers regret having to cancel Paws on Poyntz a day prior to the event, but want to be considerate of those coming from different cities and even other states. They’re also be considering of the time and effort that vendors, volunteers and committee give in preparation for the event.
This year’s event will not be made up and organizers are now looking ahead to June, 2015.
