Four Oklahoma State players collected two hits apiece and Jason Hursh registered seven strikeouts while scattering 11 hits in seven innings of work as the Cowboys powered past Kansas State 9-2 in the opening game of an important Big 12 Conference series Friday night at Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.
The Cowboys plated four first inning runs and led 7-1 after three innings as they chased losing pitcher Joe Flattery who dropped to 2-4 on the season. Robbie Rea hit two home runs for the Pokes while Ross Kivett led K-State with three hits including a solo shot.
Kansas State (27-12, 6-4) will try to bounce back Saturday afternoon in the middle game of the series. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
