A Manhattan man reports that he was the victim of check fraud and is out a significant amount of money.
Riley County police reported to KMAN on Monday that they received a report that Robert Newsome (84) of 3800 block of Kates Drive was the victim of a check fraud between 2010 and 2011.
Newsome told police that the total loss was $1,900.

Stolen goods are recovered after an attempt to sell them to Hastings.
On Friday afternoon at approximately 1:26, Hastings, located at 676 Tuttle Creek Blvd contacted Riley county police to report that around $3,000 worth of DVDs, video games, and blue ray discs were being offered to them for sale, but were suspicious that they had been stolen.
Upon arrival, police determined that the goods were indeed reported as stolen, and took into custody Todd Pearson, who resides at 534 13th Street in Ogden. He was released on a $1,000 bond.
Also arrested was Matthew Stevenson, who resides at 10895 Walnut Drive in St. George. He was also released on a $1,000 bond.
The victims in this case, Jose Francesco Laureano-Mercado (28) and Sara Raz Laureano-Mercado (26), both of the 300 Walters Drive in Manhattan have recovered their property.

A Manhattan man reports that his trailer has been stolen.
Colwynn Ballenger (23), of the 400th block of 8th Street in Manhattan, reports that sometime between midnight and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, his 2004 18 foot trailer worth $2,000 was stolen from 1100 Thurston.
The trailer is black with gold lettering, and Riley county police are investigating.

The annual Sunflower Showdown took place last weekend, and it should come as no surprise that with the excitement that came with it, there were more than a few alcohol violation citations that were issued.
Riley County police tell KMAN that sixteen citations for having an open container in public, along with five minor in consumption citations, two minor in possession citations, two hosting a minor citations, and two interfering with a law enforcement official citations were issued.
