A Manhattan man is currently behind bars for failing to register as a sex offender.
Police say that Andrew Cole (34), 1838 Anderson Ave, failed to register as a sex offender between May 23rd and September 13th of this year.
Cole was released on a $4,000 bond.
A Florida man who recently moved to Manhattan has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender after moving to the area. Sean Ballinger (31) of 210 Tuttle Creek Blvd was found during a recent investigation to have failed to register and was charged with one count of violation of the Kansas sex offender act, and one count of aggravated violation the Kansas sex offender act.
Ballinger is currently being held on a $3,000 bond.
A routine traffic stop prompted an investigation that eventually lead to an arrest. Police say that Joshua Davies (25), of 6225 Cardinal Lane in Manhattan was stopped on Thursday around 4:42pm at the intersection of N. Manhattan Ave. and Kimble due to texting while driving. An ensuing investigation found that Davies was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Davies was charged with one count of felony possession of meth amphetamine, one count of felony possession of marijuana, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia to introduce drugs into the body.
Davies also had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear, with the original charge of violation of a protective order.
Bond for all charges and the warrant was set at $10,000. Davies posted bond and was released.
Police report that sometime between Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. and Thursday at 6:00 a.m., an unknown person entered two unlocked vehicles located at 1907 Bluestem Terr. and removed property belonging to Owen Paulson (45) and his wife Melissa Paulson (36), both of 2107 Bluestem Terr in Manhattan.
Stolen from one vehicle was a prescription for vision glasses valued at $4,000, and taken from the second vehicle was a gift certificate worth $100, $124 in cash, and a brown leather purse worth $50.
