The Riley County Police Department filed a report over the weekend for an alcohol violation involving The Wareham Theater located on Poyntz Avenue in Manhattan. This action comes after liquor was allegedly being given away without charging customers. Police sent their report to the Alcohol Beverage Control.
The Riley County Police Department arrested a Westmoreland man connected to a string of crimes during an incident which occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday in Manhattan.
The Police Arrested Nathan Woodyard (37) for the offenses of DUI, interference with law enforcement, attempted aggravated robbery, attempted vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property.
The arrest occurred after Woodyard was involved in a motor vehicle collision where a 2003 Ford Excursion was overturned. He then attempted to steal a vehicle in order to leave the scene of the accident and battered two victims in the process. The victims include Trevor Hoyle (19) of Junction City and Kayla Soliday (17) of Fort Riley, neither sustained serious injuries.
Woodyard ran from the scene, but was ultimately arrested in the 2800 block of Pillsbury Road.
During the investigation, police recovered the 2003 Ford Excursion and US currency totaling an estimated value of just over $10,000. The vehicle and cash belong to 58-year-old George Ebert of St. George.
Woodyard was confined at the Riley County Jail, but has since been released on a $19,500 bond.
RCPD filed a report for burglary over the weekend in the 1100 block of Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan.
Braden Erickson (25) of Manhattan reported that US currency, a handgun and a personal safe were taken or destroyed during the incident. Police believe the burglary occurred the night prior.
