The 45-year-old female who died in Pottawatomie County at Macy Place Drive and Elm Slough Road, has been identified as Shannon Chebultz, with a last known address of Blaine. Sheriff Greg Riat released that information Tuesday morning, indicating the investigation continues into this matter and that no further information is available at this time.
As KMAN first announced Monday, on Sunday afternoon at approximately 4:04 p.m. the Office received a 911 call alerting authorities about a woman found lying in the road bleeding from the head. Pottawatomie County Sheriff Deputies along with Emergency Services responded to the call and upon arrival at the location, officers found a woman near a pick up with serious head injuries.
Chebultz reportedly had been riding in a 2007 Chevy Pickup with an unidentified male driver prior to this incident.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a female found lying in the road bleeding from the head. The location given by the caller was Macy Place Drive and Elm Slough Road, rural Wamego.
Sheriff’s Deputies along with Emergency Services responded to this call. Upon arrival a female was located near a pickup at the location who had been seriously injured. Pottawatomie County EMS arrived and determined the female to be deceased.
The female victim, a 45 year old resident of Pottawatomie County had been riding in a 2007 Chevy Pickup with a male driver prior to this incident.
The incident at this time is under investigation by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol. The name of the victim is being held pending notification of next of kin.
