Power Outages Due to Storm

About 400 Riley County Westar Energy customers were without power for several hours Thursday, due to the morning storm which moved through the area, downing trees into power lines. A Westar spokesman indicated the number remained right around 400 since calls began coming in at about 7:30 a.m. through much of Thursday afternoon. 
 
A reminder if you’re without power to contact Westar by logging in to their website at westarenergy.com or by calling 1-800 LIGHT-KS  or 1-800-544-4857. The spokesman stresses not to assume Westar knows of your outage.
 
At last report all Riley, Pottawatomie and Clay county customers had power restored–with Geary County only reporting one without.  Saline County had the most problems Thursday with nearly 29 hundred customers impacted at one point–there were still 41 without power there Friday morning.Shawnee had the most customers without power Friday morning at 142.

Since the outages are scattered, Westar crews are having to respond to different locations and don’t have a restoration time estimate. The spokesman stresses not to assume Westar knows of your outage.
 
At last report Riley County had 399 customes without power, Geary County had 56, Clay with 188, and Pottawatomie county with two. Saline County had the most problems with nearly 29 hundred customers impacted.
