A resurfacing project will begin tomorrow on a 5.61-mile portion of U.S. 24 from the K-177 junction north to the K-13 junction in Manhattan.
Project work includes a 3-inch mill and overlay through the concrete portion of U.S. 24, stretching from the mall entrance to the water plan, and a 5-inch mill and overlay on the asphalt portion, stretching from the water plant to the K-13 junction. Work will also include the extension of the northbound and southbound left turn lanes at Northfield Road and the extension of the northbound left turn lane at Bluemont Avenue.
Once the mill and overlay work is completed, new pavement markings will be applied on the resurfaced roadway.
Work will take place during daytime and overnight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work. Work will be done during daytime hours north of Northfield Road and will be done overnight south of Northfield Road. No work will be allowed on the project from June 22-29 due to high traffic volumes from the annual Country Stampede event.
Drivers are encouraged to proceed with caution and obey construction signs.
