The Kansas City Royals have named George Brett their interim hitting coach after sending Jack Maloof and Andre David down to the minors. Maloof and David were hired this season as co-hitting coaches after Kevin Seitzer was let go.
The Royals are in the midst of an eight game losing streak, and the team has lost 19 of it’s last 23 games overall. Kansas City’s offense has been the main problem for the team in it’s recent slide. The Royals have scored just 16 combined runs during their eight game losing skid, and only three teams in the American League are worse than the Royals 3.98 runs per game.
Pedro Grifol was also added as a special assignment coach, which had been David’s previous title. Grifol has spent the last 13 years in the Seattle Mariners organization.
Kansas City is now in last place in the AL Central at 21-29 after a 5-3 loss in St. Louis last night.
