In the consolation round of the World University Games in Russia, K-State volleyball, representing Team USA, fell on Friday to Slovakia in three sets, 25-10, 25-18, and 25-19. The Cats were competitive in both sets two and three before the Slovaks pulled away for the win.
K-State was led by four kills each from Kaitlynn Pelger and Courtney Traxson. The Cats blocked 16 balls as a team, topped by Taylor Johnson with five, and Chelsea Keating had four. Pelger posted 12 digs, while Keating also reached double-digit digs with 10.
The Cats will next play either Norway or Hong Kong on Saturday at 6:00am central in the next round of consolations.
