One of the greatest Kansas State Basketball legends and well known figures in Wildcat sports history received a special honor Saturday morning with the unveiling of Tex Winter Drive.
The 92-year old Winter was part of all four of K-State’s Final Four appearances, two as an assistant coach and two as head coach while winning an all-time best 261 games and eight conference championships between 1953 and 1968.
Speakers included Athletics Director John Currie, play-by-play voice Wyatt Thompson and Mr. K-State himself Ernie Barrett who was Winter’s first recruit in 1947.
Tex Winter Drive will run past the east side of Bill Snyder Family Stadium and lead to K-State’s Basketball Training facility. The sign will be visible at the Gate 7 parking lot entrance off Kimball Avenue.
